This is the build i’m going to use my free respec for. It’s not a standard build so i’ll add some comments regarding why i chose some talents.
Firstly some background. Turkelife is level 67 and still levelling. I need a build that will allow me to both quest easily and fill the 5-man healing slot for instances. Obviously being 67 I don’t have all these talents yet, but you can see what I plan to get.
I’d love to use a Penance based build (the 51 point Discipline talent), but i’m not convinced the spending the points to get it is worth missing the talents in Holy. The issue I can see with Penance (this is just my gut feeling) is that talenting heavily to get it and Aspiration to reduce its CD to 8s still is going to leave a lot of time where its on CD. The spells i’m throwing while its on CD are less effective without the points in the Holy tree. Perhaps if they reduce the CD to 8 base so 6s talented i’d be happier. No experience with it though so it might be fine as is.

Shadow (3 points)
Spirit Tap Rank 3/3 (Levels 10,11,12)
Gives you a 100% chance to gain a 100% bonus to your Spirit after killing a target that yields experience or honor. For the duration, your mana will regenerate at a 50% rate while casting. Lasts 15 sec.
For 3 points you’d be crazy to leave out this talent. It significantly reduces your downtime throughout the entire levelling process.
Discipline (47 points)
Twin Disciplines 5/5 (Levels 13,14,15,16,17)
Increases the damage and healing done by your instant spells by 5%.
Improved Power Word: Fortitude 2/2 (18,19)
Increases the effect of your Power Word: Fortitude and Prayer of Fortitude spells by 30%.
Improved Inner Fire 3/3 (20,21,22)
Increases the effect of your Inner Fire spell by 45%, and increases the total number of charges by 12.
Normally i’d take Silent Resolve 3/3 for the reduced threat instead of this one. I’ve decided to try surviving without it and i’m hoping the new threat system in 3.0.2 will make it less necessary.
Meditation 3/3 (23,24,25)
Allows 30% of your mana regeneration to continue while casting.
Inner Focus 1/1 (36)
When activated, reduces the mana cost of your next spell by 100% and increases its critical effect chance by 25% if it is capable of a critical effect.
Improved Power Word: Shield 3/3 (37,79,80)
Increases the damage absorbed by your Power Word: Shield by 15%.
The first point is filler to get to the next tier. The last two are optional really. I use PW:S a lot soloing and a fair bit in 5-mans, but the value of this talent is fairly marginal.
Mental Agility 5/5 (38,39,40,41,42)
Reduces the mana cost of your instant cast spells by 10%.
Divine Spirit 1/1 (43)
Holy power infuses the target, increasing their Spirit by 80 for 30 min.
Improved Divine Spirit 2/2 (44,45)
Oops, left the description off. Gives you a little more spell power when blessed with Divine Spirit.
Mental Strength 5/5 (46,47,67,68,69)
Increases your total Intellect by 15%.
Focused Power – Rank 2/2 (48,49)
Increases damage and healing done by your spells by 4%. In addition, your Mass Dispel cast time is reduced by 1 sec.
I almost left this off until i re-read it and discovered it gives 4% extra damage and heals without restriction. Not bad for 2 points.
Enlightenment 5/5 (50,51,52,70,71)
Increases your total Stamina and Spirit by 5% and increases your spell haste by 5%.
Reflective Shield 3/3 (53,54,55)
Causes 45% of the damage absorbed by your Power Word: Shield to reflect back at the attacker. This damage causes no threat.
I use this because soloing i’m going to cast PW:S almost every pull, why not get what is effectively about equal to a free smite on each cast? Combined with SW:P this gives me a decent head start on multi-pulls also.
Rapture 4/5 (72,73,74,75)
Causes you to gain up to 2% of your maximum mana each time you heal with Greater Heal, Flash Heal or Penance, or damage is absorbed by your Power Word: Shield or Divine Aegis. Increasing the amount healed or absorbed increases the mana gained.
The usefulness or otherwise of this talent is unknown currently. It will give some extra mana regeneration, but is value won’t be known until some theorycrafters get a hold of it. Thought i’d give it a try.
Divine Aegis 3/3 (76,77,78)
Critical heals create a protective shield on the target, absorbing 30% of the amount healed. Lasts 12 sec.
Holy (21 points)
Holy Specialization 5/5 (Levels 26,27,28,29,30)
Increases the critical effect chance of your Holy spells by 5%.
I suggest taking this and Divine Fury below early on when levelling as the extra crit and reduced cast time will be useful every pull.
Divine Fury 5/5 (31,32,33,34,35)
Reduces the casting time of your Smite, Holy Fire, Heal and Greater Heal spells by 0.5 sec.
Improved Renew 3/3 (56,57,58)
Increases the amount healed by your Renew spell by 15%.
I use Renew a lot when heaing 5-mans, probably more than all my other skills combined, but the extra 15% is hard to justify delaying some of the nice Discipline skills.
Inspiration 2/3 (59,60)
Increases your target’s armor by 16% for 15 sec after getting a critical effect from your Flash Heal, Heal, Greater Heal, Binding Heal, Penance, Prayer of Healing, or Circle of Healing spell.
This is filler when levelling but i’m sure it will be 3/3 when i’m healing at the level cap. This plus Divine Aegis should be nice when I crit heal the tank though.
Searing Light 2/2 (61,62)
Increases the damage of your Smite, Holy Fire, Holy Nova and Penance spells by 10%.
Improved Healing 3/3 (63,64,65)
Reduces the mana cost of your Lesser Heal, Heal, Greater Heal, Divine Hymn and Penance spells by 15%.
Spirit of Redemption 1/1 (66)
Increases total Spirit by 5% and upon death, the priest becomes the Spirit of Redemption for 15 sec. The Spirit of Redemption cannot move, attack, be attacked or targeted by any spells or effects. While in this form the priest can cast any healing spell free of cost. When the effect ends, the priest dies.
This talent is my target in holy. I love +5% spirit and the on death effect looks cool as well as being useful occasionally.
