Another 3.1 first impressions post

16 April 2009

v3.1

I am TEH EVIL (again)!  Turkelife hasn’t been a shadow priest since level 58, but now she’s back.  First impressions … wow what a lot of DPS buttons!  My previous DPSer (Turkemoo), an elementalist, has about 4 buttons to hit.  Maintain Flame Shock and then use the following priority order Lava Burst > Chain Lightning > Lightning Bolt.

Turkelife, the shadow priest reborn, has like 8 buttons or something to hit.  I’m not even going to attempt to outline her DPS strategy ’cause I have only half a clue on what it should be.  She has like 4 DoTs plus 4 damage abilities plus PW:S.  I spent half the night trying to decide which of the skull icons I should be pushing any any one time.  Anyway i’m, sure i’ll get on top of it.

Elemental shaman build for 3.1

15 April 2009

v3.1

3.1 was a bit of a non-event from the point of view of elementalists (elemental spec shaman).  While other class had significant changes to talents elementalists got Booming Echoes.  So your 3.1 elementalist spec will be identical to your 3.0.8 spec except you will have 3/3 points in Lightning Overload instead of 5/5 and the additional two points will go into the new Booming Echoes.

Late stuff for 3.1

15 April 2009

3.1 is going live today.  Here are some late changes which I didn’t know until I read the official patch notes:

Shadowfiend: Health scaling increased. Now receives 30% of the master’s spell power. Mana return increased to 5%, up from 4%. The Shadowfiend now returns mana when its melee attacks land, rather than when it deals damage. No longer has a 75% reduced chance to be hit by melee, ranged and spells. Movement speed normalized to player movement speed. Tooltip revised. New Shadowfiend ability, Shadowcrawl, teleports the Shadowfiend to an enemy target and increases its damage done by 15% for 5 seconds

More mana returned is a plus. Appears to have lost its AoE damage survival ability is a major minus. 😦 I’m expecting my shadowfiend to continue dying alot in 3.1.

Meditation and Improved Power: Word shield have changed locations with each other.

They have? Aren’t they already on the same tier?

New Talent: Body and Soul: 2-point talent. When you cast Power Word: Shield, you increase the target’s movement speed by 30/60% for 4 seconds, and you have a 50/100% chance when you cast Abolish Disease on yourself to also cleanse 1 poison effect in addition to diseases.

I’ve heard of this but not seen it anywhere. *has another look for this mystery talent*

Circle of Healing: Healing increased by approximately 40%.

Has this always been in this patch? It’s not April Fools anymore is it? Nice buff to CoH if its true.

Crazy patch notes.

Gobble gobble.

PS I hope you like raid damage.

Guild leadership

14 April 2009

Back!  I don’t usually write a about guild stuff on here but its such turbulent times ATM I don’t think this post is going to make much difference.

Firstly our excellent guild leadership team returned to Wow last night after about a month MIA.  For various RL reasons they have these absences, but this one was longer than normal.  They returned with TEH BOMB!  Firstly they are getting married (congratulations again guys), secondly they are both quiting Wow.  Time to move on.  Important RL stuff happening, etc, etc.

Turkelife’s Discipline build for 3.1

9 April 2009

v3.1

Either next Wednesday night or perhaps the one following that i’ll be logging on to Turkelife and it will be WoW 3.1.  She will have no talent points spent.  The very first thing she’ll be doing will be spending those points in her main healing spec.  This will be closely followed by forking out 1k for a second spec tab and allocating points in that spec (whatever this is).

Main spec is definently going to remain discipline now.  The second spec is a bit more hazy but probably shadow. However every time I write that part of me thinks I should be trying out this Holy thing, especially Circle of Healing to figure out what makes it so awesome.

Surprise!

7 April 2009

I certainly was surprised.  No idea what i’m talking about?  Fair enough.

Over the weekend I managed to make the second half our Naxx 25 raiding (RL > WoW) and was a little surprised (no this isn’t the surprise, it’s just a warm up surprise) to find out that the previous night they’d cleared OS 25 and three wings of Naxx 25, which is about one more wing than usual.  I had a little selfish thought wishing they’d not done Plague Wing yet ’cause I wanted another chance at some nice loot in there, including my 7.5 shoulders.  Oh well, guess I might get to finally see Gluth tonight.
